My family’s Nevada story began in 1906 when my great-grandfather
immigrated from a Basque village in the Pyrenees of Spain. He settled
in Nevada, where our family put down deep roots that continue today. I
was born and raised in Reno, the third of four children, and attended
Jessie Beck Elementary, Little Flower School, and Bishop Manogue
Catholic High School.

As a teenager, I was active in sports and student government and
planned to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Just before my
senior year, a spinal cord injury left me quadriplegic. During my
recovery, my parents challenged me to fully embrace life rather than
let my disability define me, a lesson that has guided me ever since.

I earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nevada
and worked 19 years at the Veterans Administration. In 2014, my wife
Amanda and I founded a community service agency dedicated to helping
reduce homelessness through financial management services.

In 2020, I was honored to be elected to the Nevada System of Higher
Education Board of Regents representing District 10, and I am proud to
be seeking reelection to continue serving the community that has given
so much to my family.
